The Fishing Collection
These paintings reflect the fishing activities occuring in our local area Johnshaven, a small harbour on the Aberdeenshire coast in Scotland.
You will see from the gallery on this site, that the paintings are light and bright with precise detail. The inspiration for the Fishing Fleet series came originally from watching the local fisherman from the Studio window. This was followed by excusions to ports and harbours along the North East coast of Scotland to sketch and collect reference.
These excusions continue on a regular basis to ensure fresh ideas and future work will include different boats, vessels, situations and weather conditions. You will therefore always have a variety of new paintings to choose from.
Each painting is of working Scottish fishing boats or fishermen. The aim is to produce a record of the diversity of the Scottish Fishing Fleet at the beginning of the 21st century. In time, the study will include all the various fishing methods both old and new, currently in use by the Fleet.
The original paintings measure approximately 12in x 10in (30cm x 24cm) and may be framed if required. Packs of Greetings Cards are also available containing three cards of each of the four designs. Please place your order here
